The Chicago Center for Green Technology is the most comprehensive educational resource in the Midwest for green technology and design, and sustainable building and living practices. The Center promotes and advances sustainable homes, workplaces and communities to enhance the quality of urban life through educational programming and training, research and demonstration and by acting as a resource network.
The Chicago Center for Green Technology is the first rehabilitated municipal building in the nation to receive the LEED™ Platinum rating by the U.S. Green Building Council. Mayor Richard M. Daley dedicated the building in 2002 and it has gone on to become a national model for sustainable design and technology. The Green Tech Resource Center is an invaluable tool for those interested in learning about sustainability, green technology, and green buildings. Open to the public six days a week, the Center also features guided and self-guided tours, rotating exhibits and the Green Tech U Educational Program, which provides an opportunity to meet like-minded people, expand professional networks, and increase knowledge of issues related to sustainability, green building and public policy.
