Night Out In the Parks 2016

The Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology was honored to receive Chicago Park District award to support our 2016 Soundwalks In The Parks program for Night Out In the Parks.

In partnership with the World Listening Project, we will lead a series of guided soundwalks, workshops and training sessions aimed at engaging multi-generational communities in their own neighborhoods.

At least one series of walks will be led in Spanish or in Spanish and English. Walks will last 35-45 minutes followed by a 15 minute reflective conversation.

Luna-On-TreeOver the year three teaching artists will identify enthusiasts at each park, equipping these mentees to design, organize and lead soundwalks themselves via the CPD or other local organizations.ӬӬ Optional hour long workshops preceding the soundwalks would include the relationship between listening and sound making and introduction to field recording.
