Soundwalk and Performance at Brushwood Center – Sunday, January 25

All are invited to a soundwalk in Ryerson Woods, Riverwoods, IL, followed by a performance by Chicago Phonography at the Brushwood Center, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2015. This event is free and open to the public, and co-presented by the Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology and the World Listening Project.

Mixage Fou Chicago Sound Bank Call for Submissions – Deadline – September 27

Beginning October 4 the Mixage Fou Sound Bank will be available for the creation of original sound pieces. Works may be music compositions, sound narration, soundscapes, crazy mixes, etc. The duration is limited to 80 seconds. The deadline for submission of original sound pieces is November 16.

Turn a day at the beach into a way to give back! Enjoy free outdoor activities, such as sand castle building, kid-friendly fishing, beach soccer, relay races, kayaking and paddle boarding, and fun with sound ecology. Be part of the world’s largest cleanup and join thousands of volunteers around the Great Lakes to care for our beaches during the annual September Adopt-a-Beach™ Outdoor Family Event. Children of all ages welcome.

Did you know that every environment has its own sound? Listening to the place where the lake meets land, what can we learn about the earth and lives of its animals and people? Join the Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology and Norman W. Long as he leads a family-friendly sound-making and listening activity for participants of all ages.
