Borderbend Arts Collective, Pullman National Monument and State Historic Site, Outdoor Afro, and Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology (MSAE) co-presented a multi-faceted community engagement sound event at Chicago’s Pullman National Monument and State Historic Site on Saturday, October 3rd.  Eric Leonardson, founder and co-chair of the MSAE, kicked off the afternoon with a soundwalk which was followed an indoor spoken word performance by Chicago Phonography.

Join us for a soundwalk at the Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods with a performance by Chicago Phonography.

1-3 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2015.

 

Brushwood Center
21850 N. Riverwoods Rd.
Riverwoods, IL 60015

Program:

  • 1 p.m.: We walk through the Brushwood Gallery, listening to the interior soundscape of the Brushwood Center. Then we walk down a trail in the Ryerson Conservation Area, enjoying the winter soundscape. We walk into the Ryerson Woods’ Welcome Center, and then walk back to the Brushwood Center where we have a post-soundwalk discussion with hot chocolate.
  • 2 p.m.: Chicago Phonography performance

This event is free and open to the public, and co-presented with the World Listening Project.

Proposals are invited for roundtable discussions, workshops, papers/posters, applied and artistic contributions, relating, but not limited to the conference’s main focus. The conference’s official language will be English.

Providing a specially positioned “Next Generation”-thread, the conference is very interested, to create a forum for young scholars, scientists, artists as well as for students, and encourages them to send in their proposals. Please send abstracts for roundtable discussions, papers/posters, workshops & proposals for compositions or other artistic contributions by March 1, March 30, 2012.

As keynote presenters we expect Bill Fontana, R. Murray Schafer, Hildegard Westerkamp et al.

Mobile Media, Urban Spaces, and “Netsch” Soundwalk With Steve Jones
