Listening to the Borderland/La Frontera on Sept 23

Listening to the Borderland/La Frontera on Sept 23

The soundwalk in Harrison Park in the neighborhood of Pilsen, will embrace the soundscapes of the Mexican diaspora existing in Chicago, framing our steps with poem excerpts from Borderland/La Frontera, a book by Chicana feminist writer Gloria Andalzua. Her term, “deslenguadas” takes pride in speaking Spanglish as a hybrid cultural being existing in the Borderland which is a metaphorical space of living in the bridge of two cultures that carry our identities.

From 6 – 8 p.m. on September 23. Meet at the Fieldhouse door at Harrison Park: 1824 S Wood St, Chicago, IL 60608, United States
