We are fortunate to work with many amazing organizations around the Midwest, with a shared focus on sound, community engagement, and acoustic ecology. As an affiliate of the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology, MSAE also participates in a global network of organizations working around acoustic ecology and sound art practices. 

WFAE – The World Forum for Acoustic Ecology, founded in 1993, is an international association of affiliated organizations and individuals who share a common concern for the state of the world’s soundscapes. Our members represent a multi-disciplinary spectrum of individuals engaged in the study of the social, cultural, and ecological aspects of the sonic environment across the world. 

NonOp – NON:op Arts and Humanities is a Chicago-based non-profit organization that creates experimental art experiences by and for all Chicagoans. NON:op engages diverse Chicago communities with participatory projects where people use the arts to create a more just society.

Quiet Communities – Quiet Communities, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, promotes quiet as a valuable natural resource and works to reduce harmful noise and related pollution. We take a collaborative, evidence-based, and solutions-driven approach aimed at engaging diverse stakeholders and finding common ground. At the core is a proven model of behavior change.

Chicago Parks District – With more than 8,800 acres of green space, the Chicago Park District is one of the largest municipal park managers in the nation. The District’s more than 600 parks offer thousands of sports and physical activities as well as cultural and environmental programs for youth, adults, and seniors. The Chicago Park District is also responsible for 27 indoor pools, 50 outdoor pools, and 26 miles of lakefront.

Good City Group – We at the Good City Group explore complex issues that affect our everyday experiences living in a larger metropolis. Our goals are to seed imaginative ideas and create opportunities within our communities and share our interest in social innovations and improved daily living.

ESS – Experimental Sound Studio is a Chicago-based nonprofit organization dedicated to artistic evolution and the creative exploration of sound. As an international hub for sonic experimentation, ESS nurtures artists, heralds new works, and builds a broad, supportive community of makers, enthusiasts, and creative partners through production, presentation, education, and preservation.

World Listening Project – A 501c3 tax-exempt not-for-profit organization devoted to understanding the world and its natural environment, societies and cultures through the practices of listening and field recording. The WLP maintains a website and online forum about its artistic and educational activities. These include the use of radio and web-based technologies, conducting public workshops, forums, lectures, as well as participating in exhibitions, symposia, and festivals.
