Hanbing Liang is a researcher and designer whose work bridges soundscape ecology,
environmental psychology, and design research. She explores how everyday sound
environments shape human experience, attention, and learning—particularly in outdoor and
informal settings.
Her current research examines the role of soundscapes in educational and restorative
processes, investigating how sensory perception interacts with spatial and social design. She
brings an interdisciplinary lens to issues of urban equity, environmental justice, and
multisensory place-making, drawing from fields such as acoustic ecology and participatory
design.
She is currently a lecturer in landscape architecture and a PhD candidate in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
