ASAE welcomes new chapter: Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology

On February 8, 2009 the Chicago-based members of the World Listening Project (WLP) agreed to establish the Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology (MSAE), an affiliate of the American Society for Acoustic Ecology and the World Forum of Acoustic Ecology.

The Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology (MSAE) is a chapter of the American Society for Acoustic Ecology (ASAE), a membership organization dedicated to exploring the role of sound in natural habitats and human societies, and promoting public dialogue concerning the identification, preservation, and restoration of natural and cultural sound environments, and the U.S. affiliate of the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology founded in 1993.

Membership to the MSAE is being encouraged through a special offer. If five people join the MSAE for $50 in 2009,  the MSAE will get a bonus from the ASAE. Student, Senior, Artist, and limited income memberships are $30—49. Membership benefits are listed here and on the membership form.

The Chicago-based members of the WLP thank Andrea Polli, Jonny Farrow, and Michelle Nagai from the New York Society for Acoustic Ecology (NYSAE) and the American Society for Acoustic Ecology (ASAE) for their help in founding the MSAE.
