The soundwalk in Harrison Park in the neighborhood of Pilsen, will embrace the soundscapes of the Mexican diaspora existing in Chicago, framing our steps with poem excerpts from Borderland/La Frontera, a book by Chicana feminist writer Gloria Andalzua. Her term, “deslenguadas” takes pride in speaking

Northerly Island on Sept 6 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. The Singing Insects Monitoring Program is a citizen science effort to familiarize people with common sounds of singing insects in the Chicago region, including grasshoppers, cicadas, katydids, and crickets. Building on Dr. Carl Strang’s work

Join blind artist, Andy Slater, in a sonic exploration of the North Park Village Nature Path. We will combine our own established listening skills with those intuitive to blind listeners.

The soundwalk is at North Village Nature Center at 5801 N Pulaski Rd. on August 26 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. with a rain date on August 27 at the same time.
