exploring the role of sound in natural and cultural environments

Adopt-a-Beach™ Outdoor Family Event – Saturday, September 20

Listening activity with childernMSAE Joins Launch of “Go Outside, Evanston!”

Turn a day at the beach into a way to give back! Enjoy free outdoor activities, such as sand castle building, kid-friendly fishing, beach soccer, relay races, kayaking and paddle boarding, and fun with sound ecology. Be part of the world’s largest cleanup and join thousands of volunteers around the Great Lakes to care for our beaches during the annual September Adopt-a-Beach™ Outdoor Family Event. Children of all ages welcome.

Did you know that every environment has its own sound? Listening to the place where the lake meets land, what can we learn about the earth and lives of its animals and people? Join the Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology and Norman W. Long as he leads a family-friendly sound-making and listening activity for participants of all ages.
